A Year in Photos.

A project carried on by many publications, a year in photos took a look back at what were key moments in this past year that defined the experiences of Columbia, Mo’s community members. 2021 was a year of renewal, reunions and ramifications. Working with Tristen Rouse and Michelle & Nicole Gutierrez, we wanted to take those themes into our visual version of what happened in 2021. We were able to look at over 1,000 photos and narrow down to a 49 picture edit. A condensed version of the edit was then published as a special print section that you see above.

Owls offer link to peer connection.

K-12 education editor Elizabeth Brixey contact me to contract a photographer for a photo assignment that required care and empathy. During the time of the assignment most photographers and photo editors were either gone for winter break or had COVID, so I tasked myself with both photographing and photo editing this piece. After following Henry and his love for owls, I was able to come forward with photos that showed not only his connection to his peers, but his personality as well.
